Psychotherapy/Counseling

My approach towards counseling focuses on developing a plan to help create change and alleviate suffering with my clients. I use a trauma-informed lens that is grounded in the current literature and adheres to professional and ethical standards.

Many of the clients I work with find themselves stuck in patterns, sometimes for years, that leave them feeling trapped and hopeless for the future. My work focuses on finding new ways of responding to difficult thoughts, feelings, memories, and experiences that allows my clients to break out of old, unhelpful patterns of behavior and create opportunities for long-term change. Through exploring new approaches to handling difficult moments arising in day to day life, we can create flexibility in our responses, get "un-stuck", and move closer to living the kind of fulfilled lives we would like to have. Ideally, my work aims to help my clients move closer to being the kind of people they would like to be and create sustained, meaningful changes in the patterns they may have previously felt trapped in.

My training and experience have provided me with a skillset that makes me well-suited to working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depressed mood, anger, trauma, and relationship issues. I also am experienced in working with individuals struggling with suicide and self-harm concerns.

I am accepting new clients. I offer a free 15-minute consultations over the phone:

Assessment

I offer diagnostic assessments for a range of presenting concerns, focusing largely on mood and anxiety-related diagnoses. I offer a supportive, trauma-informed approach to help us get an accurate understanding of whatever presenting concerns may be impacting you. This process allows us to gather the critical information about your functioning to establish or clarify a possible diagnosis, capture individual strengths and weaknesses, and inform effective treatment. My assessments typically include a semi-structured interview as well as the completion of a number of psychological tests based on your presenting concerns.

The cost will vary based on the type of assessment and complexity of your presenting concerns. I only offer assessment services for psychological conditions within my scope of practice.

Training/Public Speaking

I offer presentations and trainings covering a wide range of mental health and wellness topics. In the past I have had the privilege to speak to a diverse array of audiences and professional groups about a number of important topics including suicide assessment and intervention, stress management/prevention, and general strategies for improving overall mental health and well-being. I have developed a thoughtful approach to tailoring my presentations to the needs and interests of a broad array of people including first responders, healthcare professionals, and paraprofessionals interacting with individuals in crisis. I have received strong feedback for my genuine approach to speaking and for creating an environment where participants feel comfortable asking questions about sensitive or difficult topics.

I also offer consultation services to mental health professionals seeking support or clarity on a broad range of issues including ethical dilemmas, interactions with legal processes (e.g. coroner’s inquests), clinical cases, and best practice + professional standards.
